Questional Teaching - Rapture before the Great Tribulation

I was taught that Christ will come again and the church will be caught up in the air. This is know as the Rapture. Then the seven year Tribulation will begin and Christ will reign for a thousand years and Satan will be let loose again to create havoc.  Then Christ will come again and destroy evil nations at the battle of Armageddon.  This is also know as the pre-Millennial view.

Here is a simple question.  How many times has Christ returned to earth under the above view?
Once during his first coming at Bethlehem.  Then the second time during the rapture. Then again during the one thousand year reign. And again during the battle of Armageddon.  How many comings of Christ are there? 3 or 4.

BUT my bible only says that Christ will come again a second time - there is no mention of a  third or fourth time.  I have since abandoned this view as unbiblical.

If Christ is going to come again one more time to rapture the church, and He is also going to come and destroy the nations during the battle of Armageddon, then these two events must occur during the same time - at the end of this age. This also means that the saints will go through a period of tribulation. Not good news, but we better prepare ourselves for the worst, when the whole world will start persecuting Christians.

I can see this taking shape now with the growing anti Christian sentiments around the world.

I speculate that the time will come when America becomes openly hostile to Christians.  America has the power, the means, the know-how and the cultural drive to do everything described in the book of Revelation. Imagine an America under an anti-Christian leader, with the public supporting him?   The only thing preventing this from happening are the Christians still making a stand today.  Once the  Christian light is gone in America, we will see the tide of darkness come in.  With the number of people leaving the churches and the open flaunting of sin in our leaders (remember Sodom and Gomorrah), that  time is not far away.
